Katie-George Dunlevy and Eve McCrystal Win Silver Medal in UCI Para-cycling World Championships

Did you plan to start the new year off with a bang? Make some big goals for yourself perhaps? Then as the days tick by you start to realise that those new year resolutions are taking a backseat to everything else that life’s throwing at you? Yes, us too. However, that wasn’t the case for Katie-George Dunlevy and Eve McCrystal, UCI Para-cycling Track World Championship athletes who hurdled themselves into a silver medal just weeks after 2020 rang in.

The UCI Para-cycling Track World Championships took place in Milton, Canada at the end of January and saw a major win for the duo as they took silver for Tandem Pursuit, beating their own national record at the same time. Their previous record was 3 mins 27.358 seconds, and they were able to shave 3 seconds off of this before losing first place to New Zealand’s Emma Foy and Hannah Van Kampen, who broke the world record earlier on during the competition.

This signified Dunlevy and McCrystal’s finest world track result to date, also finishing fifth place in the Tandem Line Trial showing an impressive performance. Dunlevy and McCrystal now have their eyes set on Tokyo where they will be competing later in the year, with a goal to add more Paralympic medals to their growing collection. The pair have previously won five gold medals in road events across the world, so we don’t doubt that they’ll succeed with flying colours in Tokyo as well.

Invennt is proud to be a sponsor for Katie-George Dunlevy for this incredible event. We are looking forward to welcoming her into our HQ here in London in March where she will be sitting down with Brendan Morahan on our podcast, ‘The Construction Big Breakfast’ to share her insights about her training leading up to the win, her para-cycling career and inspire us to pursue the end result of our own endeavours with the ferocity of an athlete training for a major event.
